Prospect Injury Report

May 3, 2009

This is not an exhaustive report. We aim to cover substantial injuries to elite prospects.

Matt Antonelli has a rare knee/leg injury. It is unknown when he will return.

Nick Barnese has not pitched this spring due to shoulder tendonitis.

Lorenzo Cain is out with a torn PCL, an injury that could cause him to miss over a month, though it will not require surgery.

Aaron Cunningham is on the minor League 7-day DL with a separated shoulder. It is unknown when he will return. He was injured on April 12th.

Ivan De Jesus broke his tibia in early March. He will likely miss two more months -- could return around the all-start break.

Kelvin De La Cruz has not pitched since April 14th due to a tweaked elbow.

Jason Heyward did not play from April 26th to May 2nd, but he's back in the lineup today. We did not see any reports on why he missed time. We've sent a request for more information to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Kellen Kulbacki has yet to play a game this season due to a right shoulder injury.

Logan Morrison will likely miss a few more weeks after fracturing his wrist on April 13th. It will be interesting to see if he can regain he power quickly upon return.

Michael Saunders returned from right labrum surgery last week.

Carlos Triunfel could miss four to six months with a broken fibula. He had surgery (damaged ligament). He is likely out for the rest of the season.

Jordan Walden is currently sidelined with right elbow inflammation.

Jemile Weeks has not played this season. We believe the A’s are being cautious with a hip flexor injury that began bothering him last season. Weeks participated in minor league spring training games in March, but he was not running out balls. We also saw him participating in slow-paced fielding drills.

Casper Wells has been out of action since April 13th due to a broken hamate bone -- thanks to Mark J. Anderson Jr. from www.TigsTown.com for this info..

Ryan Westmoreland had shoulder surgery in November of 2008 and expected to be back later this month or in June.
