Prospect Injury Report

July 15, 2009

The report is not exhaustive. We aim to cover substantial injuries to elite prospects.

New Injuries

Jason Knapp has been placed on the minor league 7-day DL due to shoulder fatigue.

Daryl Jones is on the minor league 7-day DL with a pulled left quadriceps and knee tendinitis.

Jenrry Mejia is on the DL with a strained finger. This could be a way to limit his innings, as one of our message board members saw the finger was not taped or anything when he recently went to a Binghamton Mets game.

Returned From Injuries

Dominic Brown, who has been out since June 8th, is on a rehab assignment with GCL Philles returning from a broken finger. He has hit two triples in two games.

Lorenzo Cain returned from a torn PCL on June 29th. He hadn't played since April 23rd.

Christian Friedrich did not pitch from June 11th to July 14th due to a groin injury.

Jairo Heredia struck out two batters and pitched two perfect, July 11th rookie ball innings in his return from an unknown injury.

Justin Smoak missed the first three weeks in June due to a strained oblique. He was out from May 29th to June 21st.

Additional Injuries from Baseball America

Former Project Prospect message board poster Ben Badler put together a July 15th report that included injuries to Jordan Walden (strained right forearm), Angel Villalona (strained left quad), Max Ramirez (wrist injury), Brad Mills (bruised ribs) and Will Smith (lower back strain).

Still Injured

Yonder Alonso (hamate bone), Bryan Anderson (seperated left shoulder), Dallas Buck (right arm injury), Ivan De Jesus (broken tibia), Matt Sweeney (hip injury), Brad Suttle (second shoulder surgery) and Carlos Triunfel (broken fibula).
