Come chat with Steve Carter and Adam Foster as Jeremy Hellickson pitches in the Triple-A Championship Game on ESPN2 tonight at 7:00 PM Eastern. Hellickson and the Durham Bulls will be taking on the Memphis Redbirds.
Hellickson missed a month and a half with a strained shoulder early this season -- he also missed his entire high school junior season due to a fractured growth plate in the same shoulder. His shoulder appears to be healthy now, as Hellickson returned from the injury and dominated the International League over 57.1 innings this season: 6.8% walk rate and 31.8% strikeout rate.
According to a May 2008 scouting report from Saber Scouting, Hellickson was aggressive with a 91-93 MPH fastball that had some late run into right handers and showed some sink. His curveball showed above-average potential -- you can also see this in the video that's embedded within the article. And he offered a deceptive changeup with late fade and depth. Hellickson's mechanics also looked pretty smooth and easy in the video.
Let's see what he has going on tonight!
