Quite a few name prospects have yet to make their 2010 debuts due to injury. This report isn't exhaustive but we try to mention as many injuries as we can. If you have any to add, please post them in our prospect injury thread.
Before anyone jumps the gun, note that Stephen Strasburg's last start was shortened by rain. As far as we know, he's healthy.
Luke Bailey had Tommy John surgery last April while he was still in high school. He's a talented catching prospect who should return sometime this year.
Manny Banuelos, who was slated to open the year in Double-A Trenton, missed his first scheduled start reportedly because he an appendectomy.
Jaff Decker missed most of spring training and continues to be sidelined due to a pulled hamstring.
Danny Espinosa should return from a strained hamstring within the next week. He's been on the disabled list since April 9.
Mat Gamel has a slight right shoulder tear and is expected to be out for 2-3 more weeks.
Christian Garcia will miss the rest of the season with a torn elbow ligament. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2007.
Hector Gomez is on the 7-day DL with a lower back spasms. He missed part of 2009 with a right groin injury and all of 2008 due to a stress fracture in his leg and a torn UCL that required Tommy John surgery.
Desmond Jennings doubled yesterday in his first plate appearance back from a left wrist injury.
Jason Knapp opened the season on the disabled list as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.
Jared Mitchell could miss the entire season with a torn tendon in his left ankle.
Mike Moustakas is in extended spring training recovering from a strained oblique.
Chris Nelson has yet to start his season due to a strained oblique and is expected to go to extended spring training bats this week before going to play for Colorado Springs.
Jarrod Parker will miss the 2010 season as he continues to rehab following Tommy John surgery and is expected to be ready for spring training in 2011.
Junichi Tazawa was scheduled to have Tommy John surgery the first week in April and will miss all of the 2010 season.
Ryan Westmoreland underwent surgery for a cavernous malformation in his brain on March 16th and is in rehabilitation hospital to rehab from the surgery. Westmoreland attended Boston's 2010 season opener on April 5th and has gone to other Red Sox games since.
