Players getting promotedModerators: dougdirt, I am McLovin, Mike Rogers, Adam Foster Players getting promotedArizona's calling up Bryan Augenstein to start tomorrow night for an injured Petit. He's got some pretty good numbers in AA. There are also rumors that Gerardo Parra will be called up as well.
Re: Players getting promotedAugenstein looked okay. No out pitch but if he hits his spots he could be tough on lefties.
On topic: Gamel to MIL on Thursday? I don't believe in barriers 'cause I always break 'em.

Re: Players getting promotedIndians call up David Huff. He's starting tomorrow against the Rays. I read the Indians website and Wedge is saying that this is David Huff's spot to win or lose.
Something that always botheres me about these call ups. if you have the ability, why not do your best to get these guys MLB debut against a light hitting team to work there confidence up? Everyone knew Huff was going to get a chance sometime before June, bring him up against the Angels!
Re: Players getting promotedRoss Detwiler, Nats, getting the call to make his major league debut on Monday.
Kris Medlen, ATL, gets his debut on Thursday against the Rockies.
Re: Players getting promoted
Hochevar-esque debut. And I agree on the call-up opponent. I don't believe in barriers 'cause I always break 'em.

Re: Players getting promotedGlen Perkins to the DL with elbow inflammation following his beatdown by the Yankees. Could Tony Swarzak get the call?

Re: Players getting promotedAntonio Bastardo promoted to AAA.
Re: Players getting promotedAntonio Bastardo
Greatest name in minor league baseball. Period.
Re: Players getting promoted
That is agreed. "You look at this ballplayer and all of a sudden, there's about five players that came to mind. It was kind of a combination of the Uptons, Gary Sheffield, Orlando Hudson and Brandon Phillips."

Re: Players getting promotedPer my ESPN text message updates...Homer Bailey to the Majors to fill in for Volquez.
Re: Players getting promotedHe did get the call and he'll probably have 2 starts to show his stuff before Perkins comes back (it hasn't sounded serious yet). After that he'll probably get shuffled back the minors or possible into the bullpen where the Twins have alot holes. Personally I'm not a big swarzak fan. His K rate has plummeted in the high minors. He's likely a below avg K rate pitcher, avg or better BB rate and an extreme flyball pitcher. That just doesn't scream success to me.
Re: Players getting promoted
I'm with you. My gut says he may be more effective than the strikeout rate would indicate, and I wouldn't be surprised if he actually outperformed some of the recent call-ups who've looked better than him in the minors (e.g. Augenstein, Medlen, Hochevar). He's just one of those guys who's been plugging away for years and I'm glad to see him get a shot. Maybe the 'pen is ultimately the best place for him as you say. I don't believe in barriers 'cause I always break 'em.

Re: Players getting promoted
Saw this yesterday. I have no idea what to expect. Aside from improvements in strikeouts and walks allowed he's been erratic. I like the video I've seen of him this year though. His mechanics look tighter, especially his front leg. I'm wondering if part of his problem is the replacement of his curve with a slider. He had to do it (too much daylight between arm slot for curve and arm slot for FB) but it is a newer pitch. It wouldn't be shocking if he was having trouble commanding that from game to game. I'm DVRing the game tomorrow. I don't believe in barriers 'cause I always break 'em.
