What has Detroit done with A-Jax's swing this year...

High BABIP notwithstanding, I really thought Jackson would struggle mightily in tha bigz.

Since May 1st: .292/.340/.384. In that time frame, K'ing around 24%, BB'ing around 5.5%. His average is still in the .290's in that span because of a .395 BABIP which will come down and not necessarily this year. BABIP can take more than a full season to stabilize and I don't even think Jackson's BABIP will be the .300 people like to paint as average. I'm thinking a .340 BABIP is entirely plausible for his career.

For instance, if we use xBABIP (expected BABIP) based on some batted ball data and other things like number of K's, AB's, stolen bases, etc etc, and apply some park factors, we get an xBABIP for the whole season of .352 and not the .430 that Jackson's still sitting at. Like I said, I think a .330-.340 is reasonable for Jackson's skill-set.

Dropping his BABIP to .352 and assume the hits we take away are singles only, we get a slash line of .256/.311/.359.

Now, that's NOT saying that Jackson's been overly 'lucky' so-to-speak -- the dude is mashing line drive after line drive. So his BABIP in my mind is about as legit as a .430 BABIP can be.

Wasn"t detroit who did anything with his swing sorry to say that detroit. It was his hitting guy in the winter who did that. I saw with my own eyes what they were working on. He has made huge adjustments and really worked on the weaknesses.
