Adam Loberstein covers the Oakland Athletics as an associate reporter for MLB.com. He also follows major and minor league baseball for The Sacramento Bee.
A native of Napa, Calif., Loberstein previously worked for The San Diego Union-Tribune and covered the Sacramento River Cats for the team's Web site, rivercats.com.
Having completed his sophomore season at UC Davis, Loberstein is now eligibile for the 2009 MLB Draft. The 20-year-old plans on signing a professional contract (or something like that) following his junior campaign. He's followed over 20 sports -- ranging from football to Brazilian jujitsu -- for his school's newspaper, The California Aggie, where he serves as sports editor.
Loberstein lists his major as "sports writing with an emphasis in baseball" -- although there is speculation that he is, in fact, pursuing academic interests at the university, too. If you manage to catch him when he's not covering baseball, he's probably singing in a barbershop quartet. No, seriously
